Visiting of the summer study abroad students of the University of California, Berkeley on 27 June 

 

25 students of a Summer Study Abroad program at the University of California, Berkeley visit the House of Sharing visit the House of Sharing on 27 June. They looked around the Museum of Japanese Military Sexual Slavery for 1 hour and had a meeting with Ok-Sun Lee and Kun-Ja Kim, victim (Halmoni) of Japanese military 'comfort women', who live in the House of Sharing. The students study the contentious history and memory issues between the Republic of Korea and Japan during the study abroad course in Global Studies at UC Berkeley. 23 Berkeley students who signed up to study the history of Korea-Japan relations and especially the “comfort women” - or “sex slaves” - issues joined the meeting at the House of Sharing. Also 2 Korean students joined it for helping them. They all had a very moving time and the team leader, professor Tetsushi Ogata said today would be the very turning point in their life.
