The movie 'a long way around' is a story of Lee Ok-Sun, a victim of Japanese military sexual slavery in WWII(Japanese military 'comfort women'), which was directed by Seung-Hyun Yi.

Lee Ok-sun (b. 1927) lives in the "House of Sharing", a nursing home of the victims of Japanese Military Sexual Slavery in Gwangju city, Korea

She could not return to Korea and had lived in China after finishing the war in 1945.

With the help of the House of sharing, she could finally return to his beloved home country in 58 years and restart her life.

The victims shared the same suffering but not the path after they were liberated. So, they often run into complication while living together.

But they understand and encourage each other, and become a true "family".

She with other victims started to fight against the Japanese government's attempt to distort the history of the Japanese military 'comfort women'

and demand a official apology and legal reparation from the Japanese government.

As time lapses, their "family" whom they are relying on and who cried out for the restoration of their dignity are passing away.

The film captures the stories of the victims from the perspective of Lee Ok-sun.
