Visiting of Edward Braunstein Democratic Member of the New York State Assembly on 5 July

Assemblyman Edward C. Braunstein was elected to the New York State Assembly in 2010 to represent the 26th District in Northeast Queens and is the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Trust and Estates and is a member of the committees on Aging, Cities, Health, Judiciary, and Ways and Means.

Assemblyman Edward Braunstein has sponsored the legislation to require all state textbooks to refer to the body of water between Japan and Korea as “the East Sea” and “the Sea of Japan.” from 2014.

He said “New York State students should be taught that “the Sea of Japan” is not a universally accepted term and that there is legitimate international debate about whether “the East Sea” is a more appropriate name for that body of water.”

Also he has been very interesting in the issue of Japanese military 'comfort women' as well.

He looked around the Museum of Japanese Military Sexual Slavery and had a meeting with 4 victims.

Halmonis gave him a framed picture, 'Stolen Away' as a present.

He said today was a very meaningful time and he promised to support the history project on this issue in New York.
